Sin tax logic.
We the benevolent and omnipotent government shall apply a tax on stuff that the poor people use to deal with the mundaneness of life. We shall apply a tax on subscription cable, that way we are not the ones operating the MK Ultra program anymore. We shall apply a tax on the property you pay your pittance to the bank to occupy each month, week, day, or in the really fun one’s hours. We shall apply a tax to the water consumed, while manipulating its contents for the common good of course. Tax the electricity, tax the vehicles, tax the fuel, for the good of the roads of course. Roads used by us to create value, value that is taxed by the government at each transaction, taxed to fund the government to provide the services created to prove its very need for existence that is now not just a dream but may have advanced to the step of even being required.
It comes down to Measure Of Performance (MOP)
In comparison to Measure of Effectiveness (MOE)
MOP: How much revenue aka our tax dollars were generated for a specific service provided? Why are certain services forbidden? Could it be that the value of the service cannot be dictated its worth from upon high? At what point does transfer of a service become evaluated and therefore valued at a quantity or I dare say quality sufficient enough to be taxed at a sufficient rate to justify the oversight required for regulation of the service?
MOE: How can the revenue generated be used in such a way to curb the need for the initial requirement and even eliminating it. Sin taxes applied in this manner work but only for a short period of time. If properly administered use of the transfer of wealth would be so severe that the initial need would be placed on the ash heap of history.
I may have defined these differently than the book says but my point is this. Unless the rules of the game change, the fields’ physical layout, or the game is all together change we are going to continue to keep chasing our tails in all the directions pointed out by those in power?
Chasing the rat for the mere purpose of chasing the rat is pointless without it reaching its terminal location of expiration.
If you plan it right, corrections can be applied by dictate, think car seats and seatbelts, not sure how many of us 40 year old plus folks should be here at the death rate associated saved by seat belt usage. One life after all is one enough to save from this terrestrial existence we have in a vacuum absent the four letter word of risk. We purchase expensive safety equipment to wrap the bodies of our young in while providing them with fluorinated water. We put a blue stripe on our vehicles in support of the Police but cower in our homes. We are told to pay our fair share of taxes but cannot be provided with a link diagram to visually display where our dollar distributed to for the common good.
We deserve accountability for actions involving the reduction or elimination of any individual’s pursuit of their Life, Liberty and Happiness.
Beyond deserve it. We require it.
There endith the rant…….
